Becoming a Women Techmakers Ambassador: Advancing Inclusion and Innovation in Tech
I am honored to share that I have been selected as a Google Women Techmakers (WTM) Ambassador for North America. This opportunity represents much more than a title—it is a commitment to advocacy, mentorship, and the collective effort to build a more inclusive and equitable tech industry.
Women remain underrepresented in technology, facing challenges that range from systemic barriers to implicit biases that shape career trajectories. Despite the progress made in increasing diversity, there is still significant work to be done to ensure that women are not only present but also thriving in technical and leadership roles. Programs like Women Techmakers play a crucial role in addressing these gaps, equipping ambassadors with the resources, networks, and platforms to drive meaningful change.
Why This Mission Matters
Technology shapes the world we live in, but the perspectives that influence it are often limited. When diverse voices are missing from the table, innovation suffers. Research consistently shows that diverse teams build more effective, ethical, and user-centered technologies. As AI and emerging technologies continue to transform industries, it is essential that the people designing, developing, and deploying these systems reflect the diversity of those who use them.
This belief has guided much of my professional journey. I have been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors, contribute to technical projects that push the boundaries of innovation, and build connections with communities that are redefining the role of women in AI and data science. Becoming a WTM Ambassador is a way to extend that impact by fostering spaces where more women feel empowered to pursue technical careers, take on leadership roles, and drive meaningful change.
My Vision as a Women Techmakers Ambassador
This role provides a platform to not only advocate for inclusion but also take action. I plan to leverage this opportunity to:
Create learning opportunities for women in AI, data science, and machine learning through workshops, technical sessions, and mentorship programs.
Bridge the gap between academia and industry, helping women navigate career transitions, gain access to resources, and build strong technical foundations.
Foster a community where knowledge-sharing is prioritized, encouraging women to showcase their expertise, contribute to open-source projects, and engage in thought leadership.
Collaborate with organizations and professionals who are equally committed to advancing gender equity in tech.
Representation alone is not enough—there must be sustained efforts to open doors, remove barriers, and ensure that women have the tools and support they need to succeed. Through this program, I look forward to helping shape a future where more women enter, remain, and excel in tech careers.
What Comes Next
My involvement with Women Techmakers will take shape through technical talks, community events, and mentorship initiatives designed to equip women with the skills and confidence to navigate the tech industry. Whether it’s guiding students through their first AI project, sharing insights from my own career journey, or collaborating with organizations to create more inclusive hiring practices, my goal is to make a lasting impact.
I also recognize that this work is not done in isolation. Building an inclusive industry requires a collective effort—from individuals mentoring the next generation to companies actively investing in diverse talent.
